Auntyisms Zine
Auntyisms Zine
A red pocket zine created in collaboration by dangerlam x viet-my bui.
What would a badass asian aunty do?
Illustrator-pals dangerlam and viet-my bui have noticed that meaning-making and life-at-large have both taken on rather nebulous and complex forms of late. So—where to find inner conviction and answers, especially if we have been brought up to doubt ourselves?
Rather than turn to the universe, or heaven forbid—the internet—for fresh perspectives, we’ve been seeking solace from sources closer to home: our very own, delightful, unflappable aunties. Be they of the blood-related, fictional or archetypal kind.
Aunties tell the truth.
To us, these paragons of poise are the embodiment of self-respect and empowerment.
Enclosed in this red pocket zine are a selection of our favourite 12 Auntyisms, collected over a combined six-and-a-half decades of research. Keep these 12 self-proclaimed universal truths and timeless lessons on your shelf, on your wall, or on your person. Let them be your secret source of gumption.
